In ancient Greece the bull was the embodiment, symbol or emblem of the gods of creation, who dwelt in heaven or on high mountain peaks. In all civilizations the gods, the fathers of the gods, creators of the world and the Sky-whose eyes were the sun and the moon - appeared in the form of a bull or were accompanied by bulls. In fact, some gods were depicted with bull horns-an iconographic tradition that was preserved until the Christian period. The gods who protected farm animals such as Mars or the corresponding Mars of the Romans, wore helmets with bull horns.
